Hi Greg,
If the radio is NOT plugged in, does the TNC show a normal Tx time via
the Tx LED?
Assuming it does, then I would suggest to you that the cause of your
problem must be RF getting into the TNC causing it to crash and lock up.
Regards,
Harry

Subject: [Packet] MFJ 1270C TNC-2 Packet Controller Question
New to the list and trying to get into APRS packet but the TNC I have is
giving me a couple of problems.
I am communicating between TNC and PC (486 PC) as I do a "display" and
can see all the settings as they came from the TNC. However, when I
have the TNC key up the Alinco DR-1200, all I get is a steady EBS-like
tone emitting from the radio. It stays keyed for about a minute plus
unless I turn the TNC off.
I'm contemplating calling MFJ this week but wanted to put it across the
list first to see if anyone had any ideas as to what caused this
problem. The connection between the TNC and the PC apparently is fine,
but from the TNC to the radio is where the problem looks to be.
Any ideas are appreciated.

Tis often better to be silent and thought a fool rather than to speak
and remove all doubt. No trees were destroyed in the sending of this
contaminant-free message We do concede, a significant number of
electrons may have been inconvenienced.
