[Packet] Linux & axports.

Evidently I didn't present my question clearly. I understand that KISS
operation lets a more powerful computer and application take over the work
the TNCs embedded computer does. The person who made the first post
mentioned having trouble with minicom communicating to the TNC and that lead
to discussion of AX25 and KISS. What does AX25 and KISS have to do with an
application that basically turns a computer into a dumb terminal not
communicating properly with a TNC where the TNC handles the AX25? I am not
approaching this from a Linux Vs. whatever but this thread has given me
seconds thoughts about experimenting with Linux untill I can do so on a
separate computer. Although I used to be able to create simple basic
listings to do one off tasks that I needed at the moment I will admit my
computer is an appliance for me, I expect to readily use it to do tasks. My
Vic20/C64 was my Maytag conventional, the IBM PC clone a step up to an
automatic washer, it remains to be seen if Linux will be the modern wiz-bang
front loader for me.--73

: A simple coms program is handy for testing serial ports and TNC's.
: Why KISS? So you can use the power of the Linux kernel and applications.

: One comand and a one line config file gives me more than what I had using
: Flexnet32. I don't think I fully understood what user friendly was until I
: used Linux. I used to think that windows was sort of user friendly. No way
: would I go back to Windows now. I've been spoilt too much.
: Enough of Linux v Windows. Back to playing packet.
