John,
Windows comes with a terminal communication program called HyperTerminal.
It's not very intuitive but it will work with a TNC -- and it's free. You'd
probably find it from the Start button under Programs: Accessories:
Communication.
My favorite Windows packet program is WinPack
http://www.ui-view.com/winpack/index.shtml . You can use it to talk to the
TNC, too. It's has many bells and whistles, so a first time setup may seem
a little complicated, but it's not really. It's nag-ware -- you can run it
free forever but you'll get nagged to register it for $15 with the British
author.
Write me direct if you want any help with either program.
