I've just finished updating my Sound Card Packet web site.
If you're not familiar with it, the site describes how to use the AGWPE
program to run packet using your computer sound card -- no TNC required.
AGWPE is a host program that is compatible with many client packet
programs, including WinPack and many APRS programs.
Some of the more recent developments in AGWPE are:
* AGWPE will now handle 300 baud HF packet, in addition to 1200, 2400 and
9600 baud.
* you can interface two radios to one sound card and communicate on
multiple frequencies -- APRS, DX Clusters, HF packet, etc.
* you can install a second sound board in your system to work exclusively
with AGWPE, leaving your default sound card for Windows, other programs
making sounds, CD playing, etc.
The Sound Card Packet site is at: www.qsl.net/soundcardpacket/
An experimental mirror site is
at: http://users.rcn.com/milnes1/soundcardpacket/ - (QSL.net seems to
be having problems keeping up with system-wide demand of late... too much
success; not enough paying supporters.)
Note: If you have existing shortcuts to any page on my site other than the
main page (index.html), they will not work now. I've changed all of the
names of the sub-pages.
Other changes to the site include smaller pages (but many more of them) and
more thumbnail graphics to improve download time; updated information on
AGWPE features; more sound card troubleshooting help; and revisions to some
interface schematics to reflect that grounding at both radio and computer
is not necessary and is unwise. If you spot any errors, please let me know.
The last official version of AGWPE is still 2001.38, although George SV2AGW
hints a new version is due very shortly.
