Well welcome to the club Jimmy! I'm in the process of setting up aprs digi
to learn what aprs traffic will be heard in this local.  In the honored
amateur tradition I'm using what I have at hand which is a   KPC3  with the
6.0 firmware.  I have been using the aprsdos readme files as my initial
guide paying attention to digis.txt and protocol.txt.  I'm out here by my
lonesome and the nearest known to me digi is 65 miles distant.  I would
suggest if your near established aprs operation you seek out any, if any
local aprs gurus as has another has suggested. You may want to visit
www.tapr.org and sign up for the aprsig email reflector and there is one
here at qth.net but it's not very active.--Doug, N0LKK
