Greetings, All,
Guess we did something correctly, folks - there were three stations using
the Gateway within 30 minutes after the 1000 hours net this morning. Glad
to see it and would like to see more. We now have the Gateway open for 11
hours a day, 24/7 for your convenience.
Just a reminder - if anyone accidentally deletes email from CAM or WAMC,
copies are always posted on the Gateway for your use. Use the command, LB
(List Bulletins) to get the list SINCE YOUR LAST LINKUP. If you wish to see
everything on the Gateway regardless whether you have seen the traffic
before, use LT (List Traffic).
If your software has an auto-forwarding feature, linkup with that mode
first - if there is no traffic for you, then re-linkup with ARQ mode so you
can enter commands to the Gateway. In auto-forward, the Gateway checks for
traffic with your name on it and if there isn't any it will say goodbye and
break the linkup. If you have traffic, the Gateway will send your traffic
and THEN break the linkup. In either case, you must re-link using the ARQ
mode to enter commands.
If one enters the command T, it will alert the sysop and the Gateway will be
keyboard to keyboard for duplex communications. Normally, I will be
monitoring the Gateway, so if you don't get a response in 30 seconds, you
will know I am not available.
If you leave your radio on the Gateway frequency and in Pactor "listen" mode
(host mode) I just may contact your station after you break off the linkup.
I'm kinky that way. hi hi
Ya'll are doing a great job for Oregon Army MARS and should be pleased with
our state operations. More members are checking into the nets, especially
the Sunday and Wednesday 5 PM nets, when AAM0TOR holds our formal training
periods before he does the same on the usual 8 PM training nets. Also,
AAM0OR is the NCS of our Saturday morning Administration nets so all the
members get an opportunity to voice questions and ask for relays to the SMD
on these nets. This feature had been sadly lacking in the past while Howard
was getting settled into his new home, but the Administration nets are now
in full swing, so make a point to be there.
With all the different types of TNC's and digital software in use throughout
Oregon Army MARS, assistance and advice should be readily available to
anyone who may be having problems setting up or operating their equipment or
programs. Merely check into a net and ask away - somebody may just have the
answers you need! It is wise to recall that the only dumb question is the
one that isn't asked. I know this from experience - for the first 12 years
of our marriage, I didn't know my wife's name! Bad leo!!!
