Hello Jesse Alexander and OMIK Members,
I have noticed several members mention HBCU QSO party or something to introduce amateur radio. Yes, that is an excellent idea! A few years ago, it was only a few HBCU amateur radio stations. In fact, it was not an overwhelming number of colleges and universities amateur radio stations. I had a list of a small number.
Let me say what I hit <Reply to all>. Some years back, Moses Brown, W5UTC was teaching electronics at Mississippi Valley State College, and I donated the school a transceiver. He was to start an amateur radio station there. I went back to school at the FAA Aeronautical Academy, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and when I returned Moses was a silent key. I never could reach anyone at Mississippi Valley State College to know what was going on. Therefore, it slipped my mind after my retirement. I don't a club ever started. <<<<I think Moses Brown was W5UTC>>>>.
73's,
Henry R. Leggette, WD4Q

hey folks. My bride suggested that we look at key dates in the history of Black amateurs. For example, Rufus Turner https://hackaday.com/2016/02/15/do-you-know-rufus-turner/
Unfortunately, I think that there are many amateur radio events happening on Xmas day--like opening the boxes of new radios and trying them out. HI HI
I like the idea of an HBCU QSO party. I guess my fundamental question is how do we get stations on campuses? I'd like to connect with the the engineer and physics departments and may be have a GOTA station for nonhams to give the hobby a try.
