I have installed and used Ham Alerts..
My logging software is DXlabs.
I have it on PC recliner, PC radio room, PC Shop.
I am Connected usually to the w0mv-1 node. It has CW skimmer spots
of VE7CC.
I have at times a second connection to either W9PA or s50clx for digital
skimmer spots. These digiatal nodes will work a PC CPU !!
The Spocollector software allows 4 node connections and a connection to
your WSJT-X program. The WSJT-x feature connection I use on another PC in
the radio room using a SDR receiver for 6 meter receiver that runs 24/7 to
WSJT-x that connects to a Spocollector program for alerts. It is setup
for NA spotter only spots only. I receive No 160 meter our daytime spots
that way,..
The spotcollector program in DXlabs has the ability to send email to my
Iphone for new mode/band etc..
I run the VE7CC software program in front of the Spotcollector programs
(127.0.0.1) and that
program has the ability to email my Iphone as well.
I will often plug a call for a big DXpedition I am chasing for fun into
the VE7CC for a call alarm. It is able to be set by band/modes.
I'm not away from home much. So the these Iphone DXspot alert features are
little used.. Maybe working out in a pasture and something big for new is
on band/mode.???
We've come a long way from just spinning the big knob hunting for DX.
I did my share of VFO spinning.
Working to pick that weak call below a big pileup being heard loud by the
east coast..
Actually the bulk of my DXCC totals came that way!
Well,
Simplex two meter buddy alerts. Late night telephone one ringers (angry
wives awaken at 3am) the only DX hunting "cheats" back then..
73 es gud dx
