Bouvet is a very nasty place from a weather standpoint, not to mention
the ocean conditions. It's essentially in the Furious 50s where waves
can constructively superimpose to create huge, single-event waves that
can capsize large ships. From a weather standpoint,  I hope they went in
with all eyes open.

As for "The Deserving," as far as I know the term was used in a literary
sense by WA6AUD, Hugh Cassidy, who published the West Coast DX Bulletin.
He famously wrote a number of short columns on DXers and DXing with many
memorable characters. An excellent archive of these, along with some new
ones written in his style, can be found at
http://www.oocities.org/capecanaveral/1641/dxstories.html. These are fun
reading. In short, anyone insisting they deserve a particular DX entity
is not among The Deserving.

Lots of things aren't a good look for the hobby. i.e., late night 75 m
activity or 14.313 Mhz... It's up to those of us that ARE among The
Deserving to be a good look for he hobby!
