Thank you Mac, for sharing this news.
Very sad. I knew Joe for many years starting back in the 70’s as we were both members of the Wheatstraw ARC. I always thought a lot of Joe. He was constantly experimenting with something new in the Amateur radio field of technology and learning. He was the first Amateur I knew with a new TAPR TNC; he talked me into buying one so more of us would get on packet!
Later on we had a mutual career in the Telecommunicatons industry. I had lost track of Joe after he left his second career in law enforcement.
R.I.P. Joe Garland WA5FLT. 73’s.
