But interestingly the locomotive in question, at 132' in length, is the
size of a 75 meter dipole, and because of its exceptional girth, it
probably has a low Q and will resonate with an acceptable SWR over the
entire 3.5-4.0 Mc range. Coincidence? You decide.
_Mac, you are correct, I misread the web site I linked to_. Although I
got to it by using The Google for "Union Pacific Bog Boy" and it was
called "Timetable" I see now it is a schedule of events for railfans,
not where the locomotive is going to be. My apologies.
THANK YOU to all Oklahoma DXers who are not railfans, for your indulgence.
When I was writing up the results of the ARRL DX Contest that just got
published
<https://contests.arrl.org/ContestResults/2021/DX-CW-2021-FinalFullResults.pdf>,
there was one enthusiastic young guy who was a CW DXer at home, but his
day job was being an engineer on the BNSF. That was quite a
conversation. We should talk about what it is going to take to keep our
hobby and service alive some time. He had left a soapbox comment that
sounded like there was hope for the future. Wouldn't that be nice?
