Hello Roger,
Glad you got him. You don't hear Reunion every day on 30 meters. Also saw
S79VU on Seychelles about the same time. No ice here, we stayed barely above
freezing the whole time. Lots of rain. Guess the Central part of the state
got hit pretty hard...

Jeff - K5WE

Jeff:

Thanks for the putting up the note about FR5DZ Reunion. I saw the note
about a half an hour ago. So I cranked back up my tower and removed a
few branches that had fallen on the sides of my sloping dipole for 30m.
By the time I got everything tuned up for 30m and started lilstening of
FT8 I heard the FR5 working other stateside stations. After a minute or
so he called CQ and I worked him on the first call. I guess everything
is OK here after the ice storm -- at least the sloping dipoles for 30m
and 40m are working.

Yesterday afternoon quite a lot of ice starting melting off the elements
and boom of the beam. I am going to test it now to see if it is working
OK. During the ice storm the traps were encased in a pipe of ice that
was about 3/8" thick. When I look up there now it seems to have all
melted.

BTW, As I type this at 14:00 UTC FT5DZ is still calling CQ on FT8 at an
offset of 880Hz away from 10.136 Mhz. On my sloping dipole his signal is
-15 dB.
