[OKDXA] 2 Meter FM

It certainly would! When I was in Bartlesville, there were about a dozen serious/semi serious dxers, and we used a 2 mtr fm frequency for collaboration/coordination and just chatting about radio and dx. Those were heady times. Later, Coy Day, N5OK, set up a repeater for dxers in the Tulsa area, and those of us in B’ville joined them. I always enjoyed the fellowship and fun. Wonder if that can be recreated? I live close enough to the border that I can probably be heard by repeaters in Lawton. I haven’t used 2mtr FM in decades!

I remember this from my years in CO as a Mile High DX Association
member. We used 146.43, but the vast majority of us were in the Denver
area and within simplex range. Those that were not, used the OKDXA
Packet Cluster, which had enough digipeaters to cover both sides of the
state. Whenever I was on the air, I had my 2 m FM rig set for the local
node so I could see (mainly local) DX spots. Some of us had two 2 m rigs
and also monitored 146.43 or would go there if asked.
We don't have anything like that anymore: packet went the way of the
dodo and so no one operates (or uses) digipeaters anymore. Yet, I've
often thought that something in the same vein would promote more club
cohesion. I have no idea what that might be, though, so I'm open to
suggestions. In the mean time, I'll also monitor 147.54, whenever I'm
active in the shack.
73 & see you in the pile-ups,
