Greetings everyone in the OKDXA

I was not able to attend this year's annual meeting due to situations
with the XYL's poor health. As some of you may know, she has MS and
needs considerable help on a daily tasks.

Gene: Thanks for the info regarding the new OKDXA slate of officers. I
have been aware in the last year or so that we need a new crop of
leaders to step up to keep the OKCXA robust. So I'm glad to see [a] that
there was a good attendance at the OKDXA meeting and [b] that we have a
new slate of officers to keep things moving.

We all owe a giant statement of thanks [or as they say after a
successful QSO in a pileup "TU"] to Gene for carrying the torch for many
years. Now Gene is taking on the giant task of managing the W5 bureau.
Gene is the glue that has kept things together with the OKDXA for many
years. I moved to Oklahoma in 2005 and when I first joined the OKDXA
Gene was a key leader of the OKDXA then -- just as he has been until
right now.

Speaking of the W5 Incoming QSL manager, we all acknowledge the job that
Mike, W5VXU did running the BURO for many years. Keeping DXing and ham
radio going takes a ton of work behind the scenes.

Also one of our own members, Connie K5CM, is doing a great service to us
"Frequency Nuts" by being a linchpin in keeping the Frequency
Measurement Tests going. We just had a FMT in the last week. I
personally did "fair" by measuring all of the signals I could hear to
within 1Hz of accuracy. Unfortunately, Connie's 40m xmission was in the
noise over here and not usable. I found out that this was due to a
cockpit error over here. I was trying to hear his 40m xmission on my 20
meter - 10 meter log periodic [which by the way was pointed west to
Calif]. I guess it helps to use the right antenna! I have a kludge setup
over here where I have to hookup a T connector and assorted coax adapter
plumbing before a group of FMT runs on a given band and then tear it
down and reconfigure to get ready for the next band. Just before
Connie's 40m xmission the previous transmission was from a guy in Calif
on 20m.

Hopefully, when the Bouvet operation comes on early next year, I'll at
least have the correct antenna hooked up!!!

I still need Bouvet, as well as DPRK, Baker/Holland, Crozet, Pratas,
Kerguelen, Johnston, Turkmenistan, and San Felix. I don't think I'll
ever work this list down to a null list. But hope springs eternal. How
can a guy work Turkmenistan if ham radio is illegal over there?

I'm going to show up at the Oklahoma City Hamfest so I'll see many of
you then!
