Ron, apparently you didn't actually make a Q with them as
#1, they were covered up with many callers most of the time they were on that island.
#2. That is a "very" long haul with a mobile running even a beefy amp!
LOL!
Even for wires etc. Just a bit of my humor, sorry. But, take a look at W5NUt's totals - unheard of and I think only a 100 watts and only wires? Gil can correct me but I recall at a OKDXA Banquet him telling our group that. Maybe earlier years he had an amp but nonetheless a very high number!
However quite possible as last year KU5B was called in a pileup by VU2NZT in India near sundown on 20 during our run in the Kansas QSO Party. He actually was near if not equal S8 to S9 as our pileup of US callers I have a card in my file from him for the Q. He needed the county we were in !!
A county hunter in India - Good luck reaching 3,077 counties for a very nice piece of wallpaper! I sit at 2,765 but do not sit on the County Hunter freqs. for days on end. I'm more contest oriented
and new DXCC countries. I have more to say about my radio time just will end by saying I have built and from Dallas my high school friend works DX via remote over the iNet.
Certainly a subject asubjecy Subjects off my answer to you and perhaps too long for a reflector but I enjoy writing I will look you up on QRZ and get your email address and tell my plans for writing a book named
"Young American Amateur". I will send a copy when complete likely learly next year.
Good DX and be a pig. I have over 150 countries mobile and stand at 327 DXCC confirmed. My history in communications and also a life's work statement radio will obviously be in my Ham Radio Book named the:
"Young American Amateur" or YAA.
A fitting book title huh? I have only read a book a book about Ham Radio called:
"Contact Sport" written by N3BB, Jim, George - All about his experience at WRTC2014 - I drove to WRTC2014 in my mobile unit, trailer attached with a gennie and big HP Tarheel plus three Hustlers on the roof of the Dodge Caravan. That and the ARRL 100th year convention had to be the highlights of my Ham Radio Life during my 57 years on the air.
Thanks Ron and all OKDXA members for the reflector bandwidth es
My Best 73, Jerry
