Hey everyone,
Just a reminder that this Saturday is the Green Country Hamfest at the
Claremore Expo Center.
The OKDXA meeting will take place in the Rogers County Building at 11
a.m Saturday. That's the same building
we've met in over the past few years. Again this year we're scheduled
during the same time slot as the ARRL
meeting, so that could make it difficult for some of you to decide which
meeting to attend but it is what it is.
This will be an important meeting for the OKDXA because it is time for
officer elections. As I have indicated
in past emails, I've held the office of President for 2 terms now and I
want to step out of the office and let someone
else take charge. Bruce has also indicated he wants to give up the
Secretary/Treasurer's office. We both want
to see others in the club have a chance to step up.
While I'm on the subject of elections, I'd like to encourage all of you
to be considering people you'd like to nominate.
There are some good people in our club, who are devoted DX'ers, that I
think would be good as officers.
In fact, if you'll allow your outgoing President to do a little
"campaigning" for individuals, I think Roger, K5RKS,
would be an excellent choice for President. He's always such an
enthusiastic supporter of our club and what we
do to support DXpeditions. And I would add that he has been very
conscientious and diligent in handling the
OKDXA display setup and teardown at the hamfests, as well as taking good
care of the OKDXA DVD library.
I also think Ryan, WO0KEE, would be a good candidate for Vice President.
He has only been a ham for a year but I think it would quite accurate to
say that the DX bug has bitten him very hard.
We could certainly use someone like him, with his young, fresh
enthusiasm for our wonderful hobby and our particular
passion within the hobby.
Looking forward to seeing you all at Green Country and the OKDXA meeting.
73 and see you in the pileups.
