Oh, but it is. I can enable or disable that capability. The point was that I allowed it to key the rig as I programmed it, expecting nothing at all and then made the contact by good fortune, sending my call only once, ever. I certainly was transmitting in the neighborhood if where they were listening. I considered it a shot in the dark and never expected it to find it's target!
