I am assisting a group of Amateurs on St. Lucia in the planning of
several QRP DX events. One that is already in the works is a visit to
Barbados. This is scheduled for 13 Dec, 2013. The next two are still
in the planning and gathering stages. Ernest J69AZ is basically
spearheading the events. The first DX event is to operate QRP from a
small island several miles off the coast of St. Lucia, it is known as
"Rat Island". We are trying to put together a first activation of this
small island. As far as we know, it has not been done before now. We
assume it will not have an IOTA # other than the IOTA for St. Lucia
proper.

The third event in the planning stage is a special event for 22 Feb
2014 for which a special St.Lucia call is in process of being applied
for by J69AZ. This call would for the celebration of Independence of
the Island of St. Lucia.

I have taken it upon myself along with a few others to begin raising
the needed funds for these later two events. We need to purchase
several solar panel kits (maybe as many as 3 for 3 possible stations
during each event.) Each event is planned at this point to run 48
hours with solar power being used to recharge the stations batteries
between use and hopefully for nighttime operations.
