Hi Gene,
Yes it is neat what you can do on 2m once you get off of FM, although Es contacts have been made on FM as well. Since I moved here in 2001 I have worked 39 states and 158 grids on 2m. Never ran more than 160 watts and the largest antenna I had up was a 13B2 at 30 feet. Currently using a Kenwood TS2000 at 100 watts on 2m and a Cushcraft dualband yagi that has 5 elements on 2m, and I am still making plenty of Es QSOs with that setup. I think my best on 70cm with it has been 315 miles or so into far east Texas (EM31).
