One more very short transmission and THEN I will shut up.

I experienced this just a few minutes ago at the Owasso I-HOP.

5 youngsters - 15 - 17 they appeared to me were being a little silly at the booth next to me and I had an opportunity to join in now and then.

I asked " the leader " he appeared to be the NARCICIST of the small reaonably controlled crowd.

I asked "Are Y'all being silly a bit?"
They laughed and said "We are out chasing ghosts"
I said "Head on down to Texas around the Alamo - there are anumber of them there"

We all went back to our juice and pancakes.

A little later I asked "Where are y'all from"

One of the kinder and gentler ones said "We are Barnsdahl do you know where that is"
Isaid "Yes, near Bartlesville up 75 about 50 miles away"
They said kind of tandem "Yes you are right."

They seemed like a nice clean cut group of young people so it crossed narcisistic thought chamber I'll just take care of their check and ask a couple of simple favors of them and see if I can smile and maybe even get a smile from them.

I told my waitress to place there checks onto mine.

$42.00 + I added a $10 tip for my waitress,
Turns out part of that tip will also go to the clean cut korean waiter that had the kids table. Good deal I thought - because I had just told the kids ( who were looking for a few bucks for a tip ) - don't worry not just your meal but tip is covered - they smailed again..

As they were leaving 2 of the 3 boys shook my hand after I had told all of them my two favors I would request of them.

1. Drive careful all the time ( NOTE: I had to identify my first son Chris as he lie in a large silver drawer at the hospital when he was killed in a truck accident in Missouri when he was 19. Chris would ber 42 years old today and I still miss him and I know the world has come up short because he is not here. When I saw him in that drawer I could hardly catch my breath. There are moments even after 23 years that I will catch a tear on my cheek.

2. I told the kids "If you see an Old Man like me or Old Woman that stumbles a bit just give them a little support until they are steady.

The kids smiled again and said they sure would - being country kids I beleive them but it never hurts to pass out a little bit encouragement.
As I said when they were leaving I got two handshakes and a thank you from two young ladies along with smiles again.

That entire exchange and showing of appreciation by those kids cost an old man about $35 thats pennies a smile and kind gesture. I always am happy when I do thngs like. A fine return on my investment I hope if only one of them helps some old person or their parents. Might even make them look twice before they pull out of some of the dangerous intersections we have up here in the country.

END OF TRANSMISSION
