Alan, I do not envy your burying lots of radials. I did that once when 
lived in Bartlesville. buried about 20 40-60 foot ones and 2 120 foot 
ones that snaked all around the house and yard. Was a lot of work even 
though I build tools to do it. Used and old lawn edger with a custom 
(long) blade to do the trenching.

Now, I just lay them on the ground in the winter, and then the grass 
grows over them in the spring. Very little corrosion here in north 
Texas. I can leave aluminum or even uncoated steel on the ground for a 
long time before any significant corrosion occurs. Sure not the way it 
was in NE Oklahoma. Left a 17 meter yagi lying on the grass one spring 
for a couple weeks and when I picked it up, the underside was already 
pitted.
