[OKDXA] Icom 7700/7800

Hello John:

I used the PRO III when I was in Brazil for WRTC in 2006. It was an
outstanding radio. The PY ops bought lots of the PRO IIIs that the WRTC
teams used during the contest. I was very impressed with how well the PRO
III stacked up against my IC765 (which was our other radio).

That being said, I have never had the 7700 along side the PRO III to do live
tests. The 7700 reviews that the RSGB and the ARRL did sure say some great
things about this radio.

We will be using our 7700 on 20 meters along side a 7800 in October and
November. I'll let you know after CQWW how they stack up. The 7800s sure
have worked well along side our IC781s for a few years now. I'm looking to
swap out the last of the 781s with 7700s if all goes well.

73 and Best DX!
Tim K3LR

Hi Tim,

Thanks for the information. Overall, is the 7700 that much better in
performance that it would be a better choice than the 756PRO3, considering
that you would lose dual receive and spend $3500 more.
