Break out the #220 wet or dry sandpaper. You won't hurt it if
it's solid copper. Clean back an inch or so, twist 'em together,
Use Rosin core solder, heat the joints gently with a small
torch (best) or a 50 watt +/- soldering iron. Guns get too hot
too fast. Make a shiny joint. Make sure the solder flows all
around the joint. Wrap it with Scotch 88 or some waterproof
tape.
