[OKDXA] dual RX rigs

Hi Jay,

Thanks for the analysis Jay. I have owned both the Yaesu FT1000MP and the Icom 756, and agree that the dual receive function works better in the Yaesu, in most regards. It was nice to be able to split the receivers by ears, and being able to tune each receiver independently of each other, on different modes, was great for those mixed mode contests. I didn't like having to go into the menu to change the CW filter setting on the subreceiver, but I think that has been fixed in the MKV.

Still the dual receive in the Icom was OK, and was better than not having dual receive at all. You did have to ride the balance control alot, and another disadvantage was that you had to have both receivers set to the same bandwidth. I like to use narrow filters on the DX station, and wider filters to find the station the DX is working. That is one thing I don't like about the new IF-DSP rigs-they make you use the same bandwidth in both VFOs. My non-IF-DSP, single receive rig will at least let me listen to the DX with a 500hz filter in line, and switch to the other VFO (the transmit one) with a 2.4khz filter to find where the DX is working.
