hey everyone, the cq wpx voice contest is over. here are 2 results from
iraq.. we both operated single op and low power catagory multi band
korey yi9vcq is an army sergeant in taji,
qso 1113
multipliers 406
score 1,294,734...........he didnt take any indirect fire on this one
me yi9qwo
qso 1020
multipliers 431
total score 1, 259,382.........we took 4 rockets inbound on sunday (the
muslim way of saying HAPPY EASTER (i will get a chance to thank them later this
week) with no casualities.
this was my most intensive contest i have ever operated and i really learned
some stuff from it
1. dont drink burbon(JACK DANIELS) the evening before because you wont wake
up at 0300 (0000z).
2. a swivel back chair would help
3. dont dis-assemble the 160m dipole that also serves the 80m band (160-40m
gets extra needed points)
4. if you decide to skip on chow and your buddies bring you shrimp
cocktail-dont leave to get more.
5. steal a 12v battery to use when the generator is being serviced for an
hour.
6. peanut butter and honey really do the trick
7. add some dipoles at right angles to the omnidirectional
8. IRAQi CALLS ARE ONLY WORTH 1 POINT?.......that sucked, i worked another
ham here on the base on 10, 15, 20 & 40m
9. keep a bottle of water handy.........better yet, but a contest voice
keyer
10. dont drink burbon the night before.
korey and i are discussing plans to do a multi contest station in the cq wpx
cw contest and trying to get a few others to help.....i bet we can wrap up
some impressive scores doing a multi op/multi transmitter station
