[OKDXA] Static discharges

A little off topic but good info. I have always had a big problem with getting shocked when touching about anything after getting up from my chair and walking to touch a light switch or any kind of appliance including all the rigs in the radio room. I always thought the problem was shoes against the carpets. Not so. A ham in Dallas gave me the cure. Take a regular spray bottle and fill with about 1/3 Downy fabric softner and the rest water. Spray your favorite chairs real well, even making them a little damp. If you must, just a light spray on the carpet in the traffic areas. It turned out that my big problem was the chairs and this absolutely stopped any static electricity problems in the house.
During low humidity times I would just cringe when I touched anything after getting out of my chair and particulary going to the radios. The pop was a very audible sound and stung good.
One spraying lasts for many months.
Hope this helps.
