Greetings,

Where to start. 842 miles of pure RF folly.=20

Left Friday morning for Guymon. Stayed in Guymon in a place that will =
remain nameless, however a chair under the door was completely =
justified. #1... Never feed the Kellyville twins a big Mexican dinner =
the night before an all day rovering expedition. Left out Saturday =
morning and hit Cimarron Co (farthest one out) about 7:45 A.M., a little =
behind schedule. Started CQing.#2... Never assume anything with =
antennas. Lost a lot of valuable time with tools in hand. How many ways =
can you rebuild a bug catcher? Started East with a few QSO's in the log. =
Running about a county an hour with pretty good luck. Hey, how about 10 =
meters? Nothing...made one 10 meter contact and that was it. No problem, =
we'll go back to the workhorse 20 meters and rig up the other rig to 40 =
meters #3...always bring "all" the hamsticks. No 40 meters. No problem, =
we're doing good on 20 meters. Seemed best to stop just after crossing a =
county line and work everyone who needs it while the engine is off and =
the logging was a whole lot easier while the vehicle is sitting still. =
Hey, how about some QRS CW? #4....The Iambic spent a comfortable weekend =
resting in its usual place in the shack #5....Never start out on a =
rover trip with untried equipment. Especially antennas. You lose a lot =
of valuable air time.

Mark has the log so I'm going from memory here, but we ran 11 counties =
and I think 30 something states. Got a wave from Coy via a 4 lander and =
also from Charlie via the same guy. Heard some folks calling Jerry & =
Clif,also.=20

Was very glad to give Dewey County to an HA county hunter which was the =
last county for him in Okieville. He had been chasing it for some time =
and he was thrilled. Dewey was hands down our most popular County. =
Seemed like everyone was waiting for us when we got there.=20

Wildlife Dept. Saw 2 large groups of antelope-three big turkey =
flocks-some pheasant and a brown thing which is yet to be identified.

Sounds like participation was way up from last year. This is wonderful! =
Can't wait to see the final tally!

Would I do it again? You bet-but not tomorrow...Hi! Got some photos for =
the web. Maybe Gene can get them on for us in a few days if we have the =
space.

On behalf of the OKDXA a great big "Thank You" to everyone who =
participated. If you have any changes in mind write them down while =
they're fresh in your mind and we'll talk about them at Ham Holiday. =
Would love to hear the stories on the net tomorrow night, but got to do =
the work thing :-(

73 all- Dave
W5ATV

BTW Nelson-The DLL didn't say "10-4" the whole weekend! He's getting =
better.
