After the my harmonics were in bed last night, I had a bit of time to play
on the radio as I was trying to figure out just what it is about the
combination of my USB hubs and serial-to-USB adapters that causes a Windows
2000 BSOD on shutdown (no, I haven't figured it out, yet). I heard a N9
with a walloping signal calling CQ DX on 160 m for quite a while, but he
had no takers. 160 seemed to be very quiet last night, so I expect that if
there were anything to hear, I'd have a chance of hearing it. I listened
on 80 a bit, too, but heard nothing there, so I went down to 40.
I worked some DX on 40, though nothing terribly rare. I worked a T94, an
OM8 and heard RA9NA, but when I tried calling him, was pounced on by an
OK1. I never fail to find this odd, since I've always been under the
impression that US stations are common as dirt so there's nothing much
unusual about working one of us. There were apparently a couple of VU2's
that were active, but I never heard them; I don't think they hung around
very long.
