01:00Z 11/25/2002 Update:
I received a couple e mails from William this weekend.
He will be there for about another 8-9 months-so all
is not lost. He goes home to South Africa for
Christmas on December 20th, and will be returning to
Sudan on the 15th of January.
He is still working in some of the remote areas of
Sudan, and putting in 14 hour days, 7 days a week. He
may be going to another remote site in a week or so,
and will try to get the OK to operate from there.

21:00Z 11/17/2002 Update:
Received e mail from William, and due to security
concerns, he will not be able to operate from the
remote site where he is working. Sudan has a civil war
that has been on going for many years.
William will be headed back to Khartoum soon, and will
try to operate some prior to going home for Christmas
with his family.

13:00Z 11/10/2002 Update:
William is in a remote part of Sudan now for the next
5 weeks. He has his equipment with him, and also has
located at his location a 400 watt transceiver being
used in commercial application. He will try to get
permission to use it, when he is off, and it is not
being used. If not, he will use the IC 735.
The Amp that was damaged in shipment was a MLA 2500.
The 8875's were damaged, and a few small items. ZS4TX
Bernie, is trying to located the needed parts.

14:00Z 11/05/2002 Update:
William is now back in Sudan. He returned with a
Hustler vertical and a ICOM 735. He had purchased a
Amplifier, but it was damaged in shipment to South
Africa. Bernie, ZS4TX, will try to get needed parts to
repair it, then ship it on to William in Sudan.
William also brought back with him a boom mic, and a
foot switch. This will allow him to do computer
logging while making the QSOs, so should speed things
up for him, and not require him to transcribe the
written logs to the PC at the end of each days now.
William will be doing some work in the remote areas of
Sudan over the next couple of weeks, so he will not be
operating from Khartoum. He will take the radio and
some wire with him in case he gets a chance to set up,
and operate while in the remote camps.
The North California DX Foundation is sponsoring the
QSL cards, and they should be printed by middle
November. Most QSLs received to date should be out by
the end of November.
