Gents,
Good evening. Just to share the good news that I’ve just made my first 2 contacts on Satellite! I used the ISS reflector at a shallow angle pass: ˜29 degrees max elevation.

Have logged contacts with the following stations:
- N6EFD in Southern CA
- W4KSY in Northern GA

Equipment used:
- Satellite: International Space Station (ISS)
- Frequencies used: Uplink freq. = 145.990 MHz and Downlink freq. = 437.800 MHz
- Radio: TYT TH 9800 mobile VHF/UHF in my vehicle
- TX power: 50 Watts
- Antenna: Mag mount Nagoya 2m/70cm on the roof of my vehicle (omnidirectional antenna)
- iPhone program used: ISS Detector

So, in a nutshell, you don’t need expensive & specialized equipment to *get started* on satellite contacts. You may already have what is necessary to make your first satellite contact!

Can share findings & tips at our club meeting this Saturday if you’re keen. If I can do it, you can too!

73,
Stephen (W2WF)
