All: You might be interested in this forum put together by BVARC and other
local clubs that will feature the ARRL candidates for the West Gulf Division
Director position.  The candidates are John Stratton, N5AUS (current
Director) and Madison Jones, W5MJ, (the challenger).  This forum will be
held after the Oak Forest Club Meeting at Transtar.

John Robert Stratton, N5AUS, of Austin, Texas, is the ARRL West Gulf
Division Director.  Stratton, moved up to the Director's chair after
Director Dr. David Woolweaver, K5RAV, announced his retirement.  An
attorney, Stratton served as West Gulf Division Vice Director since 2009,
when he was appointed to succeed Woolweaver.  Stratton holds a bachelor of
science in aerospace engineering from the University of Texas and is a
graduate of the University of Texas Law School.   Some additional

There is no posted CV for Madison Jones that I can find.  He has been the
Vice President of the Madison County ARC, is a past President of the Texas
DX Society and active in the Central Texas DX Contest Club.  Jones is very
active in DXpedition work is apparently well respected in this arena.  There
is no other specific information available about Jones' interest in pursuing
directorship of the West Gulf Division. 

The purpose of the forum is to present their ideas and thoughts on what they
will do if elected to the position of West Gulf Division Director. After
both candidates presents their views, there will be a Q & A session for the
audience to ask questions on their concerns in amateur radio. If you are
interested in the future of amateur radio, make sure you attend the forum
and to make sure your concerns are heard about amateur radio.
