Hello! My name is Nick and I currently live in Martinsburg, WV. I say
"currently" because we are in the process of moving down to the Waco
area. As you can see from my signature, I am an ASM and an ORS up
here. I was awarded the titles by KC8FS, our previous SM, for starting
a much needed 2 meter traffic net here in the Eastern Panhandle. Before
I started my net, it was very difficult to get messages in to or out of
this part of WV, as we are "isolated" from much of the rest of the state
(by geography as well as RF). When I get situated in Texas, I intend to
do pretty much the same thing and start up a 2 meter traffic net on a
local repeater down there (I'm thinking of affiliating myself with the
Heart O' Texas ARC in Waco). I've already done some research and didn't
find any 2 meter traffic nets that met in the Waco area (at least none
that meet 5 days a week), and in that sense I feel that Central Texas is
"isolated" in much the same way as we were up here; low power, VHF-only
stations may not be able to reach all the way to DFW from Waco. I also
noticed that the 6:30 session of the DFW Traffic Net is on an
EchoLink-enabled repeater; I can also maintain an EchoLink liaison
between our nets a few nights per week, if you wish.

Also, if any of the Section leadership is on this reflector, I am
available to offer any web assistance that you may need. I maintain the
WV Section's info page at ARRL for our current SM, KA8ZGY. While doing
my research on the NTX Section, I noticed that you don't yet have a
Section website. I would be pleased to help set one up for you.
