[nrv-hams] Solar Event In Progress - Possible Aurora Tonight

Hi All,

For those that did not see the news yet, we had a large solar flare yesterday (X-class)!  This flare has already produced a solar proton storm and we are currently at the second highest level on that storm scale (S4).  It is rare to have this much activity without a geomagnetic storm too, which should be coming tonight.

NOAA has predicted possible aurora tonight as far south as Alabama (G4 storm level with Kp of 8) with peak activity after midnight.  They will have an updated prediction around 7:30 PM if not sooner at spaceweather.gov <http://spaceweather.gov/>.

Spaceweather.com <http://spaceweather.com/> is also updating frequently and a good source of active events in progress.
