[nrv-hams] DMR Radio - Made Me Cross!

I have used chirp to program my Baofengs for a long time. What I don't
grasp from your explanation is how to map the DMR data fields into the
chirp/baofeng data fields. For example, the DMR info consists of:
Zone name
Digital Channels:
name
time slot
Rx frequency
Group list
Tx frequency
Contact
Group List
name
contacts...
Contacts:
name
subscriberID
and there seems to be no obvious mapping to the variety of data fields
available in CHIRP for the Baofeng HTs.
At this point, it seems to me that to use DMR with an HT, it must be an HT
that inherently supports the DMR protocol, not some generic HT.
Probably my fault, but I did not infer that from your description.
Specifically, Baofeng does offer a model RD-5R
<http://radioaficion.com/news/baofeng-rd-5r/> for DMR.

The trouble with many of today's college graduates is not that they're
ignorant, it's that they've been taught so much that just isn't so!
(with apologies to
Ronald Reagan).
