The Virginia Tech Office of Emergency Management and the National Weather
Service Blacksburg Office are sponsoring a National Weather Service Basic
SKYWARN Spotter Class.  

The class will be held in the Cascades Room at the Inn at Virginia Tech from
6:30pm to 8:30pm on Tuesday March 20, 2012.  The class is free and open to
the public.

A meteorologist from the National Weather Service Office in Blacksburg will
be present to discuss how volunteer SKYWARN spotters can help the National
Weather Service to provide timely and accurate warnings to the public when
severe weather threatens our area.  Characteristics of severe storms, storm
safety tips, and reporting criteria/procedures are among the topics that
will be discussed.
