Hi New River Valley ARC Members:
This morning, Thursday, September 15th, Mary Orr called to give us a report
on Max, and here's what she wanted me to tell to all of you:
She had spoken with the surgeon this morning who said that Max is doing
"very, very well."
He actually sat up in a chair yesterday for two hours, and that will cut
down on his chances of developing pneumonia.
His breathing tube has been removed, and he started speaking immediately,
even giving Mary "orders," so you know that was a good sign.
He ate some Jell-O and some water-ice last evening; he will be allowed to
eat some solid food today.
His color is very good. She has seen him after two previous heart
operations, and this is the best she's seen him afterwards.
The doctor wants to keep him in Cardiac Intensive Care (CIC) for one more
day as there is some swelling in Max's extremities, and they want to keep a
close watch on that.
Mary says that this medical center is top-notch, and she is very pleased
with everything so far.
So, so far, so good. Mary thinks that the idea of us sending him one of our
QSL cards is a good idea for a get-well card, if you'd like to send
something.
Finally, she said she'd keep in touch with you all through telephone calls
to me. So please keep Max (and Mary) in your thoughts and prayers.
73,
Carter N3AO
