Hello fellow New River Valley ARC members:

Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 24th, at 7:30 PM, at the Christiansburg Library, we
will have the rare opportunity of having as our meeting speaker none other
than Phil Hysell, the National Weather Service SKYWARN Spotter Trainer we
all know and love, to come to our meeting.

Phil will give us a little program explaining just how he went about doing
the evaluation and assessment of the tornado damage from the tornadoes that
hit Pulaski just a few weeks ago.

These violent storms created severe hardship for so many of our friends and
neighbors. I'm sure you have seen the pictures and perhaps have even been
able to visit there in person since the destruction.

What Phil and his partner Steve had to do was to make detailed studies of
what they saw, and then to make judgments of what actually happened as the
terror reigned down-or up, as the case may be. This is serious work, and was
done by the highly skilled NWS men who work for us-right here in our own
area.

Please make every effort to attend this meeting. Bring family members too.
(There is a possibility that Phil may even bring his wife, Anna Jo, an MRH
emergency room nurse, I believe!)

This will be an outstanding chance to see just how our NWS personnel work
for us right here at home! Don't be late, and don't miss this opportunity!

73/88,

Carter N3AO
