To all members of the New River Valley and Floyd County and Roanoke Valley,
and Franklin County Amateur Radio Clubs,

I was contacted today by Tom Rundell of Copper Hill. He is affiliated with
the USCG contingent that monitors Claytor Lake. He is trying to find
civilian volunteers with communications skills who would be interested in
serving as watch standers for the USCG at the lake. There is up to an 8
hour watch at the lake and you would need to be there. Also if you are not
interested in a commitment then don't volunteer for it. The training will
be on both VHF, UHF, and HF Coast Guard frequencies and also you would have
to take the basic boating course. Please contact Tom at the above number or
by email.
Tom's phone is 651-2249 and he's copied on this e-mail. His email address
is; jtret at swva.net.

Fair Winds and Following Seas

A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made
payable to The United States for an amount "up to and including my life."
That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no
longer understand it.
