I suppose if I'm ever to get with the times, that injection board/GPSDO
combo would be a good investment. I've just never had enough interest in
digital modes to consider it before. It's unfortunate that Icom didn't
just include the ability to connect an external reference oscillator in the
first place, but the Bodnar injection board looks like a clever and
relatively cheap way to overcome that issue.
With that modification, is the 9700 a good IF rig for a 10GHz transverter?
I realize that a lot of folks use much cheaper all-mode 2m rigs for that,
but since I already have the 9700, that would get me that much closer to
finally getting on that band...
