Hello NLRS land
During any of the ARRL VHF contests make sure that you log ALL of your contest contacts that you have made regardless of what contest category you are entering. This means that if you plan to enter as an Analog Only station but decide to make some digital contacts, just make sure that your log indicates those digital contacts as digital (DG or RY) as these will then be treated as if they are "X-QSOs" to be used for cross-checking against other logs but your score calculations excludes them. If you strip these out of your log yourself before you submit your log, the stations that you worked on digital (in this example) will get penalized during log cross-checking as a Not-In-Log.
This same concept works for SO3B and SOFM where contacts logged that do not fit within that contest category will be treated as "X-QSOs" and used only for cross-checking against other logs but not used to compute your score.
With this you can see that its important to log all contest Qs that you make and to accurately log both your Mode and your Frequency.
(Thanks to K9JK for helping me to better understand this)
