[NLRS] WSJT - Computer generated RFI

Dell computers themselves are generally pretty good about EMI.   One suggestion:  Open up WSJT-X to get the noise going, then start to disconnect cables, preferably from the back of the computer if you can get to them, particularly any cables that run to the radio directly or indirectly.  Are you running rig control (CAT)?

   My recent digital activity on 2m has been pretty limited, but I have been puzzled by wideband "buckshoot noise" that I was thinking was from something at our weekend neighbors. It is NOT!
  First this noise raises the noise floor on 144.174 by 6db and there is a nasty S7+  4Khz wide growler centered just below 144.230. These growlers are every 115Khz across 2m. 
  While waiting for activity on 2m this eve I discovered the source:

   The source ... ANY TIME WSJT-X v2.5.4 is LOADED. It does not need to be running, I can turn the monitor off, unchanged, mode makes no difference. WSJT-X being loaded on this machine generates this noise.
   Strange!!! The computer is a Dell  ::
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad core Q9400 @2.66GHz -- 8GB memory
 Win 7 -- 64 bit operating system.
I'm still trying to get my head around this!!
