I had originally planned to rove in this one but family matters indicated that I needed to stay close to home base. Saturday was fun but Sunday was an Es-fest with 6m CW, SSB, FT4, and FT8 going full out for most of the day. With my modest 6m station of two stacked omni loops and 200 watts I made 25 CW, 74 FT4, 119 FT8, and 50 SSB Q's and a VUCC. I think that after six years of FTx experience in VHF contests that many op's are becoming more familiar with when to change modes as band conditions change. FT4 had my highest rate of 90/hr for a 10 minute segment. FT4 is nearly as fast as RTTY and you have to be in rhythm to use it right, especially with multiple callers. Anyway, I think all the 6m rigs in NA were on the air on Sunday. Late Sunday afternoon we were treated with a 2m Es opening with Florida & Georgia station in for well over an hour, maybe one of the longest sustained 2m E opening that I have experienced. However, as expected, not much activity on 222 and up. A tip of the hat to N0SPN/R and KC0P/N0HZO/R for being out and about too.
