Thanks for the early planning info, Gary. I haven't built my playlist
yet for August on 10 GHz, but this is a good place to start.
Just yesterday I finalized our locations on Saturday in EN53. Last year
I used a nice spot next to the Eldorado church and worked you, Bruce &
Janice. I am glad I drove by there recently because it has now been
converted to a corn field. I spent 2 hours driving around to find an
acceptable alternate...and there was one and only one location...so now
we are set...with five grid squares on Saturday (six next year once an
overpass on highway 23 is built). These are in the Fond du Lac area.
On Sunday we have six established in primarily EN64 & EN54 in the Green
Bay area and to the south.
This year I have decent views to the horizon in just about every
direction...I have a highly improved rig...and greatly looking forward
to it and praying the weather is OK...and band conditions are good. I
worked Karl WD9BGA several days ago at 110 miles...he was often
S9+30dB...and we had a 50 minute rag check on the band. :) I also
worked Ron W9ZIH at about 165 miles.
As I've talked to you about in the past few weeks, instead of operating
solo this year, I anticipate a pack of three, which would add Gary K9JCZ
from Fond du Lac and Joe KD9CJX from Wausau. You had recommended a
mini-activation which I have scheduled for them on August 14 to help
them improve their first time roving skills. I haven't built that small
playlist of 2 to 4 stations to work.
So when you are ready for the info, I can give you our operational
details...and when you know who is in your pack and grid squares, let me
know and I begin building my list.
73,
Larry WA9TT
