I'm getting ready to head up north for the summer but, the NLRS country must
still be hibernating.
- Talked with Jon to confirm that there are no plans for any on-line
activities while the Tuesday coffee, monthly breakfast and annual Aurora
conference are on-hold indefinitely.
- Talked with Matt (re: 222 amp) and found out that the only net currently
on-the-air is the one he hosts on 2 meters.
The time may be right to get something going now that ice-out has occurred.
- Many of us have more discretionary time available
- Socializing during these difficult times has proven to be helpful.
- I've helped the Austin (RMG) and Alexandria (RARC) clubs socializing (at a
distance) in that they're now holding regular on-line zoom meetings,
coffees, etc. They've been eager to re-engage if only via video
conferencing.
- Many areas of the country now have FT-8 activity hours on many VHF/UHF
bands during the week. Apparently, this hasn't caught on in the upper
Midwest yet.
- What will it take to get some of the other NLRS nets (listed on the
website) going again?
This isn't rocket science! The Austin, Kerrville and Alexandria hams have
been able to get reconnected. Perhaps we can do the same? Yes, you'd need to
connect to the internet and download the zoom app. This could be a
showstopper for some of us.
So, it's difficult to determine what equipment to bring along when everyone
seems to be in isolation; both physically and radioactivity.
Any suggestions or comments would be welcome.
