[NLRS] Those wind profiler 222 beams that were available back when...

Marshal is correct, they are old cushcraft pro antennas, with the
thick elements and cast aluminum element mounts. I have one in my
garage, that I bought for 5$ for the aluminum parts. THere were over a
hundred of them taken out of a UW Madison research project from
decades ago. The project was a 225 MHz (?) wind profiler, which was
located somewhere in the area, but I knew not where exactly. Many were
modified for 2 meters, some stayed on 223 and a few modified for 432.
Others were scrapped out eventually. They were disseminated at various
hamfests by one of the area clubs back decades ago. Also out of that
project were several HENRY 2002-220 meg amplifiers in various stages
of condition. I ended up with 4 of them and reconditioned 2 of them,
which made nice tabletop KW amps for 222. I believe Terry W0VB has one
of them. I still have one, which is only usable for parts. Also in the
amp collection was a Henry 3002-220, which a local ham ended up with,
and was sold to someone down in KY or TN??

Hi guys. I bought 4 of those 10 ele 223 mhz beams (bottom picture
antenna )at one of the wisconsin hamfests for 25 bucks each. Think
they were donated to a club. They came with instructions on how to cut
them down to 432 mhz. My dad (w9rvg) used one of the antenna modeling
programs with the element measurement as they where and built a couple
of 15 ele 223 beams. They are strong antennas. I had one hung outside
on a shed for 3 or 4 years now unused and checked the swr on it last
time down in em57 and it was still flat at 223 mhz. I believe those
were old cushcraft proline brand. Marshall WD9EXD
