Hello Northern Lighters!
This summer's CSVHFS Conference is not too far away in La Crosse, WI on July
24th and 25th. I hope many of you attend the conference just out of your
interest in VHF/UHF weak-signal operations and socializing with like-minded
people. However, to have a successful event, we can still use additional
help and helpers.
We have filled many key positions like Presentations, Proceedings, Antenna
Range, A/V, and Chairpersons for Rover Row Dish Bowl (RRDB), and Hospitality
Suite.
When the event is in motion, we could use assistance:
At the Registration table
On the antenna range
In the noise figure testing lab
At Rover Row and the Dish Bowl (WB8BZK Captain)
In the Party Suite (N9ISN Captain)
Prize table security during the busy time just before the Banquet on
Saturday night.
The Party Suite Captain for all three nights is Al Schlaugat N9ISN. The
Chippewa Valley VHF want to "Sponsor" the Suite. In my discussions with Al,
he knows that he really could use more hands and some Northern Lighters
would be a good addition.
Janice and I won't be doing the Microwave 101 presentation this year because
of my need to get ready for the CSVHFS Business meeting right then (Sat
afternoon). So teaching/leading Microwave 101 is open if someone wants to
do that. We have one probable volunteer to teach/lead Microwave 101. If this
interests you, perhaps it can be a team presentation.
We need your help to put on a fine event. With MANY hands the impact is
reduced on any one attendee and every attendee still sees enough talks and
feels like they got value out of the event. Please look at the list above
and let me know what areas you'd like to help with.
To promote the event, we could use your help in promoting to your local
clubs. We are preparing a short PowerPoint (although it will likely be in
.pdf format). You can use the presentation and the notes accompanying to
extend an invitation and encouragement to attend the conference. We are
working up the presentation and it will be ready soon. Our vision is that it
would take 5-10 minutes to present. You could present at your club's APR,
MAY, or JUN meeting. Alternatively, perhaps you can work up a suitable
posting for your local club's email reflector or newsletter.
With some of the tasks, no prep work will be required. If you'll be helping
in a specific area, I'll put the area Captain in touch with you. Let me know
how you'd like to pitch in. I will add you to the Helper Listing once I
hear from you.
I look forward to seeing many of you at the conference. I look forward to
working with many of you to put on this event!
