K1FO yagi designs have been very much refined and do work as claimed.
Good gain and directivity and survival of snow and rain. The long beam
you are looking at may have a beam width similar to the steps in the
typical rotator brake and that can make it hard to use. I had a 2m beam
with a 33 foot boom and it was really hard to direct because of the 1
degree steps on the rotor parking brake. But when directed properly it
made lots of long distance contacts without a need for band openings.
