Well gang, got on with 50 watts from en25 FM, and 4 element beam.
Worked K0SIX, thanks Vince.
Hopefully as I work through my chemo-therapy things will get better.
Thanks for all that tried.
NI0W,
Dave

>Hey gang,
>I blew the dust off my long unused DEMI 220 transverter lash-up last night and though I'd hand out a few Q's to the locals. Only antenna was a tri-band FM stick which is actually vertical for the first time in years. The polarity wasn't a plus here perhaps, but any antenna has infinite gain when referenced to no antenna (db na).
>Got about 10 calls in the log from 2 grids, all the usual suspects. Great to hear many after my years of being under a rock.
>My 10m IF radio is an old Ranger 2950 that I have the transverter mounted on. At 26 years of age its memory battery was done so all the memories were gone. I had to dial in the frequency manually no big deal, but after all contacts were made I looked close at the display and saw the Roger Beep display was on, apparently that is a default(!). Donn 'VOI mentioned something about the beep but I thought that was just a dig at me being a repeater nerd, I had no idea, Sorry folks!!
>During the last attempted contact the radio didn't seem to be acting right so without thinking I figured I'd just feed in 25 watts from the other HF radio to the transverter interface. Key words "without thinking" as I just jammed 25 watts straight into the memoryless innocent RCI-2950... Perhaps none of you will have to endure the beep again :(
