Hi everyone,

It's been a couple of months since I sent out the last email about the
August weekend,
August 18th and 19th, of this years 10 GHz Cumulative contest. Interest
has been good.
There are  6 ops who plan to be on the Minnesota North Shore, 7 ops on
the Michigan
Upper Keweenaw Peninsula, 2 ops on the Canadian North Shore and another
dozen or
more who are interested but haven't decided if they can be on or where
they wish to
operate. There are also a number of others who who haven't contacted me yet.

The MN North Shore ops are planning to have 10, 24 and 47 G on the air.
The UP
ops plan to have the same bands available. The Canadian, Barry, VE4MA,
in particular
has said he will have 10, 24, 47 and 76 G equipment. Because everyone
will have 10G
that will be the main band.

Ops on the MN side will operate from a number of fixed site starting
near Duluth and
traveling up the shore to Grand Portage. These areas favor the western
side of the
Keweenaw and the Canadian NS sites.

The ops of the Michigan UP operate from sites near Copper Harbor on the
Western
side of the peninsula and from the top of Mt Brockway. The sites near
the shore line
are blocked to the east by much higher ground that is only tens of yards
away.
Mt Brockway does offer a chance to work other areas around the lakes.
However,
the ops must move around the top of the mountain to do so.

The Canadian NS sites are chosen to be open the the Keweenaw and the MN NS.

There is no activity planned from Wawa, Ontario this time. Wawa is on the
Eastern shore of the lake.

Anyone planing to go to the Eastern side of the lake must understand
that there
will be very limited chances to work the rest of us. Please consider
joining one
of the groups.

If you are interested and haven't  contacted me previously please let me
know
what you would like to do. I will add you to the list. If your plans
have changed
or firmed up, let me know.

We will need someone who is going to operate on the Keweenaw peninsula and
someone who will be operating on the Canadian side to step up and help
organize
the activities at those sites. Can someone make a list of hotels/motels
in those
areas too.

Again, if I haven't heard from you please let me know of your plans for the
August weekend.

73, Gary WBØLJC
