This was my first real effort in a vhf contest.
I didn't have FT8 running until Sunday, so I probably missed out on some
Saturday Qs there. I never did get the program to work with my Yaesu
FT-897D (appears to be a problem with the hamlib rig comm routines in the
rc2 beta version of WSJT-X) so I switched to my Flex Radio 6500 and that
worked fine.
QTH is EN34it, south-central Bloomington.
I entered in the 3 Band category, low power, single operator.
Antennas are 12 elements 144 and 15 elements on 432 both at 55 feet.
LMR400 and 50 watts on 144, Hard-line and 20 watts on 432.
Homebrew horizontal full-wave loop on 6 meters with 100 watts at about 45
feet.
All of my 144/432 operating in the past has been on satellites.
Longest QSO was with WB0HHM in EN13 on 144-USB.
I also worked W0UC and K9MU in EN44 and W0ZF in EN24.
All the rest were the rare EN34 and EN35 grids.
I did print a few stations in EN80 and EM95 on FT8 but didn't make contact.
All in all, most of the time it was a bit like watching corn grow!
Sum total of my effort is as follows:
50 SSB 11
50 FT8 6
144 FM 2
144 SSB 11
432 FM 3
*432* *SSB* *4*
Total QSOs 37
Points
440
73
